New Yellow's replacement of the previous Yellow is similar to several early Sentai such as Gorenger, Battle Fever J and Bioman where the Yellow (or Yellow equivalent) is replaced. However while none of them involved a change in gender, it may be commentary on how the Yellow Ranger became the first non-Pink female by Bioman.
- Though recent Sentai such as Gokaiger and Kyoryuger have experimented with Rangers that switch genders, neither have had a major team change involving a different gender Ranger.
