Hong Kong subtitles aka HK subs or Engrish subs are badly translated subtitle text that are featured on imported DVDs. As its name implies, the English translations for the official product are done by licensing companies in China.
The DVD and Blu-Ray discs that have these types of subtitles are commonly found in international markets and are often sold cheap at online retailers such as Ebay or Amazon.
Hong Kong subtitles are often ridiculed on the Internet for their often humorous dialogue and groan inducing inaccuracies. Some are translated so poorly that it renders the film or show in question unwatchable.
