Akira Suzumura

This article is about a hero in Choukou Senshi Changerion.

"After all, I'm too determined!"

―After defeating the enemy, Akira (as Changerion) would take a turning pose once and point his index finger by saying so.

Akira Suzumura (涼村(すずむら) 暁(あきら), Suzumura Akira) is Changerion (シャンゼリオン, Shanzerion), the main protagonist in 1996 Japanese tokusatsu series Choukou Senshi Changerion.

Biography[]

Akira is a happy-go-lucky, frivolous private investigator who accidentally gained the power of Changerion, but without worrying about it, he was overjoyed and accepted it as his "Super lucky!" (超ラッキー！, Chō Rakkī!), so he had no intention of hiding that identity, but rather trying to talk about it. Therefore, there is no problem about how to bring it during transformation, which is the promise of the transformation hero, eventually abandon it, and fight against Dark Monsters. He never joined the SAIDOC.

Since Akira does not have a basic sense of mission to be a hero, it is natural to deceive him with a calm face regardless of his enemies or allies. He tries to save his life by himself, and he repeats some merciless acts from the conventional hero image. Not only members of SAIDOC such as Hayami, but also the Dark Monsters that should be defeated have taught him what a hero should be.

Akira is not good at studying until he looks stupid when among primary school students. On the other side, he is very lonely, and when his secretary leaves the office, he gathers women to play with them in an attempt to dispel loneliness, and due to his low living ability, he shows a corruption that turns into a part of the garbage room. Also, there is a section that shown him unexpectedly looks at society severely, and therefore he only want to be sweet and always enjoy life.

Another World Version[]

In the final episode, he is depicted as a member of SAIDOC. In this version, Akira is very earnest, serious and calm, and has the exact opposite personality, but the only thing they have in common is that they never give up in any predicament. The story ended when Akira made his transformation pose during the Darkzide's all-out attack.

Personality[]

Akira doesn't use honorifics other than to detective clients for business, even if they are older. He has a sloppy and unmotivated personality. Besides, he has a vast debt because he is a waster who loves women and gambling, overdoing the flirting and get resented by Hayami. Has such a pitiful personality that tickles motherhood, it revealed that he was blessed with dozens of girlfriends. He likes banana parfaits and doesn't like spicy food.

There are only a few stories that make him look like a hero (in many ways), but he has his own conscience and sense of justice, to those who harm the weak and those who hurt the hearts of others. Akira may show an angry expression. He will not do something when he is not serious about doing it. Aside from his personality, Zander and Gauzer are paying close attention to his fighting ability and instantly when he does it.

Changerion[]

Akira gathering light particles through a Chanvizer and wearing a reinforced bodysuit. After saying "Sanzen!" (燦然(さんぜん), "Sanzen!"), he is bathing with Crystal Power (クリスタルパワー, Kurisutaru Pawā) developed by SAIDOC based on many years of research by Munakata.

Although it reaches at least several tens of times more humans' athletic ability, because Akira does not basically do his best, he usually wins with his "Super lucky"^[1].

Attack[]

Shining Attack (シャイニングアタック, Shainingu Atakku): Changerion's final attack. Changerion hold his right arm over the Chandisc on the chest, activated by shouting the technique name. The Crystal Power is collected on the Chandisc, and an energy body that mimics the appearance of a Changerion is fired. The energy body penetrates the enemy's torso like a deformed bullet. It was the main deadly technique, but only at the time of the first use, he fell due to the momentum of Shining Attack energy that he had never felt before.

Portrayal[]

Akira Suzumura was portrayed by Takashi Hagino (萩野崇, Hagino Takashi), who later portrayed Takeshi Asakura/Kamen Rider Ouja in Kamen Rider Ryuki. As Changerion, his suit actor is Jiro Okamoto (岡元次郎, Okamoto Jirō)^[2]^[3]^[4], who coincidentally also portrays Kamen Rider Ouja in-suit.

Suzumura's previous role was referenced in Kamen Rider Brave ~Let's Survive! Revival of the Beast Rider Squad!~, when Takeshi Asakura ate a mackerel he stole from the groceries of his victim.

According to Toshiki Inoue, the main writer, Akira's version of "another world" is "a dream that Akira had in a difficult battle in reality," and he also said that Akira want to live his life happily, but it's hard to do so^[5].
